what we believe
“He is before all things, and in him all things hold together. And he is the head of the body, the church; he is the beginning and the firstborn from among the dead, so that in everything he might have the supremacy” (Colossians 1:17-18). Unlike other denominations whose top officials dictate what their member churches must practice and believe, we as Baptists believe in the autonomy of the local church. The word “autonomy” simply refers to the self-governing nature of each individual congregation. Since Christ is the head of the Church, we answer ultimately to Him and to no one else. While we choose to associate with the Anderson County Baptist Association, the Kentucky Baptist Convention, and the Southern Baptist Convention, we do so voluntarily as long as it relates to the purpose of our church.
